Over the coming years, these pages will be built up to include small "stories" or case histories illlustrating modern chemistry in action, liberally dosed with "hyperactive" molecules which you will be able to rotate, measure and generally play with. The content will include chemical problems suitable for tutorial and classes, a page where you can log-in to suitable on-line information databases, pages where you can acquire programs and other software, and any other good ideas that people come up with. We expect these pages will be used to augment and enhance local courses rather then to replace their teachers!

RasTop is a molecular visualization software adapted from the program RasMol, which was initially developed by Roger Sayle. RasTop is particularly adapted for educational purposes and for the rapid analysis of macromolecules at the bench. RasTop wraps a user-friendly graphical interface around the "RasMol molecular engine".

On this page I post reviews and links to freeware chemistry programs available for download at other sites around the internet. All of the programs are ones that I have used, or currently use. None-the-less, I take no responsiblity for any problems you might experience as a result of installing any of these applications. Unless otherwise noted, the programs are for Windows systems.

GAMGI aims to be useful for: 1) the scientific community working in atomistic modelling, who needs a graphic interface to build and analyse atomic structures; 2) the scientific community at large, who needs a graphic interface to study atomic structures and to prepare images for presentations; 3) teaching the atomic structure of matter in schools and universities, even inviting students to run GAMGI at home; 4) science promotion, in exhibitions and science museums.
