Microsoft will unveil a video sharing site to compete with YouTube, Yahoo! Video, Google Video and others. The project, code-named Warhol, is expected to be renamed “SoapBox” when it launches.

YouTube has just introduced a new section called Colleges on YouTube. Students, alumni, and staff from 30 universities will be able to access this portion of the YouTube site using their .edu addresses assigned to them by universities.

Stage 6 is a new YouTube clone that has just launched into alpha. Stage 6 offers many of the same features offered by YouTube including tagging, commenting, favorites, blogging, and downloading.

The folks at VideoJug have created hundreds of how to videos on accomplishing life’s basic tasks, and they also allow users to load their own how to videos. The videos produced by VideoJug are of amazingly high quality, using simple, easy to follow instructions. The site has a clean look, and is well-designed and intuitive.

In just a few short months, AOL has put together a very impressive video portal with hundreds of free streaming video offerings from a number of good content sources. AOL Video is probably the best source of free traditional TV content on the Web. They have content from several well known cable channels including: A&E, The Biography Channel, MTV, The History Channel, TNT, and more. In additional, AOL Video has put together a number of themed channels including Vintage TV which offers “classic” TV series such as “Alice”, “Growing Pains”, “Maverick”, “Welcome Back Kotter”, and “Eight is Enough”.
