This is a rather cool trick that I stumbled upon today by accident. It is a rather simple, Terminal free way, of disabling (and then re-enabling) CPU cores on multi-core CPU Mac’s. Its rather a neat little trick that for me has been pain free. Normally if you want to switch off a core you would have to run a certain Terminal prompt, and possibly restart. This is then usually followed by the kernel going “What the F*&K where’s my CPU core gone!” and prompting exhibiting a kernel panic. Not good.

If you want a GUI for Graphviz, there is one that's provided by Pixelglow. It uses its own built-in version of Graphviz, which is several years out-of-date. However, you can patch it so that it makes use of a newer Graphviz from one of my packages. To do this, download and install one of my Graphviz packages, then download Graphviz from Pixelglow. Drag Pixelglow's Graphviz.app to /Applications, and then open the Terminal and run this (using graphviz-devel instead of graphviz-2.12 depending on which of my packages you installed): cd /usr/local/graphviz-2.12/bin ./fix-graphviz-app "/Applications/Graphviz.app" This will permanently modify your copy of Graphviz.app to use my updated version of Graphviz. You can freely move or rename your Graphviz.app, but note that it will not function if you later uninstall my Graphviz package, or if you copy this Graphviz.app to a machine on which my Graphviz package is not installed.

LockDown is a handy tool designed to bring high strength data encryption to Macintosh users.  LockDown uses the cryptography libraries of OpenSSL to make six industrial strength encryption ciphers available in an easy to use drag and drop application.  Simply drop a file or folder into LockDown to encrypt it, or double click to decrypt it.  LockDown also brings convenient high strength encryption to the clipboard allowing you to encrypt any clipboard contents including text, pictures, spreadsheets, whatever!  In short, if you can copy it to the clipboard, LockDown can encrypt it.  LockDown even lets you encrypt binary files directly to the clipboard.  With LockDown, state of the art encryption of files and data is finally made simple.

Burn a DVD on Your Mac Apple first sold all of us on the digital music revolution using the slogan "Rip, Mix, Burn." Indeed, thanks to Apple software, it was suddenly dead simple to copy and burn music CDs using your Mac. But what about video DVDs? It turns out there are a few hoops to jump through, but in the end, it's pretty easy, even though you may need to invest in some additional software.

syncroniesiert zwei Verzeichnisse.

Selenium (formerly Googalyzer) is an application designed to assist with conducting research on the Internet. It allows you to create multiple projects, each of which has its own writing section, bibliography manager, outline editor and PDF manager. Selenium also incorporates a full-featured tabbed web browser to allow you to conduct research and work with the information you find all from within the same application.
