Current use of E+P was associated with an increased risk for both ductal breast cancer (relative risk [RR], 1.75) and lobular breast cancer (RR, 2.12). However, current use of estrogen only increased the risk for lobular cancer (by 50% after 10 years or more of use) but did not increase the risk for ductal carcinoma, except in lean women (with a body mass index of <25 kg/m2).
