The Powers’ Festival is sponsoring a series of free outdoor movies at various locations in Coweta County this summer — promoting the Labor Day destination and offering some free fun for local families. The first film in the Powers’ Coweta Classics series will be “Tobacco Road,” shown on the town square in Moreland on Saturday. The outdoor cinema screening is free and welcomes all residents and visitors alike. All of the films have some Coweta County tie.

As Festival Square welcomes the newly installed Big Screen Edinburgh, outdoor film lovers get up close and personal with Gregory’s Girl. It’s pillows at the ready this month, as Scratch ‘n’ Sniff Cinema sets its stall to showcase one of the country’s best loved films. The outdoor movie will be screened as part of a national programme of events to mark London 2012 Open Weekend. The comedy drama Gregory’s Girl will be shown free at the newly installed outdoor movie screen in Festival Square outside the Sheraton Hotel.

The fourth film festival of the southeastern city of Mardin, SineMardin, kicked off Saturday night at a ceremony held at the historical Erdoba Mansion. The ceremony hosted guests from Sweden, Syria and the US. “Even though we are tired when the festival ends each year, we can’t turn our back on Mardin,” says program director Zihni Tümer. The festival features both local and international films, and will feature outdoor cinema screenings as well.

People visiting Toronto this summer will be offered some memorable entertainment at the Adrenaline Rush film festival. From 30 June to 1 September, this open air cinema event will see a different movie screened in the outdoor setting of Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto every Tuesday.

The final open air cinema screening will be taking place on Saturday, June 27th, featuring the film “Hot Rod Girl”. The outdoor movies are shown on an inflatable screen on Broxton Street and have been widely attended.

Monday, the festivities at the CineVegas Film Festival were ending with a highly unusual outdoor cinema screening in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. News 3’s Steve Crupi reports that six days of screenings and partying are coming to an end. The film festival ended Sunday and the serious movie-watching is over. But Monday night, CineVegas went outdoors to celebrate another big year - this time with a big outdoor film from 1958 called “Attack of the 50-Foot Woman.”

April marked the beginning of the “Good Movie Film Festival” in Seoul, South Korea, and we featured an article depicting the festival’s popular outdoor movie screenings. The festival will continue screening movies under the stars until October, presenting local, independent, and popular Korean films. One of the films screened is “Gake no Ue no Ponyo” a revolutionary picture in the children’s genre. Director Hayao Miyazaki has yet again transcended the boundaries of juvenile cinema, presenting a film that is profound and enjoyable for children and adults alike. Two months ago we featured an article about the outdoor movie screenings at the Seoul Good Movie Festival. The outdoor film festival presented 280 movies at 690 free screenings including popular and arthouse films alike.
