When a very depressed Harry Potter is chosen as Hogwarts' Champion in the Triwizard Tournament during his seventh year, he suspects the entire event has been engineered out of sympathy for him, the boy who enabled Voldemort's resurrection. After hauling Draco Malfoy from the lake during the second task, however, he is jolted from his self-pity long enough to strike up an unusual friendship with Malfoy, if only to discover why his hated rival is what he will most sorely miss.
