Introducing Bitlash

Bitlash is an open source interpreted language shell for the Arduino serial port. It runs on the Arduino and interprets commands that you type in a terminal window or send programmatically:

Bitlash is a development and prototyping tool for those situations where you need to bang some bits on the Arduino but writing a sketch in C is premature. The Bitlash command language is very similar to Arduino C and includes a large repertiore of the familiar Arduino C functions so you can hack your hardware from the serial command line or even over the internet via telnet.

For something even smaller, download miniPicoLisp.tgz. It is a minimal version, without support for databases, UTF-8, bignums, IPC, networking and other system-dependent functions. A kind of "pure" Pico Lisp (not "pure Lisp"!). It supports the full Pico Lisp language, but runs faster, and uses even less memory space. It should also not be restricted to Unix. In addition, it compiles and runs also on 64-bit systems.

Jon Kleiser wrote an OpenGL library gl.tgz, and a Chinese Checkers program running on top of it.

"I consider the Garrett GTP30 series of APUs one of the classic small gas turbine engines. Their origin dates back to the 1960’s and there have been quite some similar engines at this time, for instance the Solar T41 APU. All these engines feature both radial compressor and turbine, an overhung rotor shaft construction without bearings in the hot section and a single can combustor located tangentially to the turbine wheel. All this leads to an easy, troublefree operation. These engines will idle at very low temperatures, some fellow turbine collectors report less that 300°C. Since I’m currently in the process of inspecting and cleaning the engine, I cannot specify any data myself yet. The GTP30-67 was used in a ground power unit (GPU), the “EMU-12/E” that was rated 120V/400Hz at 20kW. To conclude from the construction of the engine, it should be capable of much more power but it is probably derated for this application in order to achieve a longer life span. From general construction the GTP30 has much in common with homebuilt turbocharger gas turbines, yet in regards to the level of sophistication they cannot be compared."

I think I may have met Matt many years ago during one of my visits to Chevron. "The SE-5 by Matt Keennon A 1/72nd scale SE-5 sport scale model from sheet balsa. It uses muscle wire for rudder and elevator control, about 60 position resolution. A 2.5V regulator drives the actuator to keep the travel and current down.
