Fabric is a simple pythonic remote deployment tool. It is designed to upload files to, and run shell commands on, a number of servers in parallel or serially. These commands are grouped in tasks (regular python functions) and specified in a ‘fabfile.’

WaveScope is a system for developing distributed, high-rate applications that need to process streams of data from various sources (e.g., sensors) using a combination of signal processing and database (event stream processing) operations. The execution environment for these applications ranges from embedded sensor nodes to multicore/multiprocessor servers.

The Log is a cross platform client / server framework that allows for centralized logging of events that would normally only be logged to some other facility (local file, NT Event Log, syslog, etc.) for reporting and alerting.

hawKeye is a network monitor different from other similar opensource networking tools such as Ethereal or Ettercap in that it focuses on allowing direct visualization of content that was transmitted during the capture.

Tellu computer/network inventory collector collects hardware/software information and network traffic per machine basis from large computer networks, and stores data in MySQL database. Tellu package consists of client side programs, server side programs and a user interface called Skin. Client program collects the actual information from networked machines, and sends collected data to the server which saves it in the database. Stored data can be accessed and modified using Skin. Currently Tellu client supports data collection on Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, MacOSX and Solaris operating systems.

Duplicity backs directories by producing encrypted tar-format volumes and uploading them to a remote or local file server. Because duplicity uses librsync, the incremental archives are space efficient and only record the parts of files that have changed since the last backup. Because duplicity uses GnuPG to encrypt and/or sign these archives, they will be safe from spying and/or modification by the server.

Openfiler converts an industry standard x86/64 architecture system into a full-fledged NAS/SAN appliance or IP storage gateway and provides storage administrators with a powerful tool to cope with burgeoning storage needs. Building upon the popularity of server virtualization technologies such as VMware, Virtual Iron, and Xen, Openfiler can also be deployed as a virtual machine instance.

rsnapshot is a filesystem snapshot utility for making backups of local and remote systems. Using rsync and hard links, it is possible to keep multiple, full backups instantly available. The disk space required is just a little more than the space of one full backup, plus incrementals.

AMANDA, the Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Archiver, is a backup system that allows the administrator to set up a single master backup server to back up multiple hosts over network to tape drives/changers or disks or optical media. Amanda uses native dump and/or GNU tar facilities and can back up a large number of workstations running multiple versions of Unix. Amanda uses Samba or Cygwin to back up Microsoft Windows desktops and servers.
