iRedux is a Sound & Music Re-Appropriation and Re-Interpretation System for Gallery Installation & Live Performance. iRedux aims to generate discourse surrounding issues fundamental to music download-culture – those of ownership and authorship. Through a combination of pre-set digital signal processes and aleatoric remixing, iRedux generates unique and original music, utilising the compositions of other composers. iRedux will re-appropriate an album, chewing up old music and giving birth to new sounds – using the original album as inspiration whilst simultaneously corrupting and destroying it.

The Echo Nest Remix API lets you manipulate music and video from the web. We've done the following: rearranged the syllables of a vocal line, walkenized and cowbellized hundreds of thousands of songs in a week, mixed up the hits of a drum beat and synced it to another loop, beat matched two songs, split apart DJ mixes by their individual tracks, made new kinds of music, synced a video to a song, transitioned between two covers of the same song, made a cat play piano. We're making this available as an open source SDK for Python that can currently be easily installed for Mac OS X and Linux. It accesses the Echo Nest Analyze API at http://developer.echonest.com seamlessly through a web services interface and parses the results. You'll need an Echo Nest API key to use this SDK.

This tutorial is designed for self-study, principally for composers. It begins with explanations of basic programming and acoustic principles then gradually builds up to the most advanced electronic music processing techniques. The book’s teaching approach is focused primarily on hearing, which we consider a faster and more enjoyable way to absorb new concepts than through abstract formulas.

HackTheDj! its a tool programmed with the visual programming language pure-data, designed for the audio performances at real time….You’ll build rhythm sequences with particular durations, that you’ll articulate with closed cycling patterns, as well as with other no conventional cycling patterns. You can alternate those cycles between percussive patterns, or continuous fluxes patterns (drones, bass lines, textures, landscapes, glitches, etc..)

FlowDesigner is a free (GPL/LGPL) data flow oriented development environment. It can be used to build complex applications by combining small, reusable building blocks. In some ways, it is similar to both Simulink and LabView, but is hardly a clone of either. FlowDesigner features a RAD GUI with a visual debugger. Although FlowDesigner can be used as a rapid prototyping tool, it can still be used for building real-time applications such as audio effects processing. Since FlowDesigner is not really an interpreted language, it can be quite fast. It is written in C++ and features a plugin mechanism that allows plugins/toolboxes to be easiliy added

The Echo Nest is a music technology company founded by two MIT Media Lab PhDs. The Echo Nest’s proprietary music analyzer API automatically analyzes audio (e.g. aif, wav, mp3, m4a), and generates an XML file that describes the musical and structural content of the music. That representation can help power music visualization, music games, artistic installations, content-based and DJ applications with a much deeper level of music understanding. For developers, the Echo Nest technology facilitates more efficient, relevant and robust audio data extraction.
