MISS Lohan will be leaving her teenage party lifestyle behind and head back to acting, landing a lead role in a brand new comedy movie. The 22-year-old received good reviews for her performance in Mean Girls (2004), but has since panned critics. Furthermore, she was reprimanded by the executive director in Georgia Rule (2006) for "irresponsible and unprofessional" conduct as her partying and personal life overtook the reigns of her professional career. However, Lohan will be heading back to the pictures, after landing the main role in fantasy comedy The Other Side, which tells the story of a graduate science student set on a remote island. Daily Variety reports Director David Michaels saying, "Lindsay's very aware of people's perceptions of her. She's really committed to doing what she has to in order to change that." Filming of the movie, which also stars Woody Harrelson and Alanis Morissette, is expected to begin in October.

HALF of the Olsen Twins, Ashley Olsen, is abandoning her career as an actress, because she wants to pursue her dream of fashion designing full-time. The 22 year old, who grew up in the spotlight alongside twin sister Mary-Kate, starring in sitcom Full House at age nine months, will take over the role at women's fashion collection The Row, while sister MK, continues to act. She tells Vman magazine, "I've been transitioning from acting as a kid to doing something that I'm choosing for myself - to be part of the fashion industry. That's what I want for my future. It has nothing to do with my past, nothing to do with anyone else's agenda. And I followed my heart the whole way." "The Row is really something that I'm doing while my sister still wants to focus on acting. She's my partner in The Row, but she trusts me with the everyday. I mean, I see her like 10 times a day." Ashley is expanding the collection to include men's wear in the autumn, urging critics not to dismiss her line as just another celebrity brand. "The outside perception is very different because you do have celebrity brands, people like Jessica Simpson and Kimora Lee Simmons, and those are celebrity brands because they have their names on it," she adds.

FORMER gangster and hip-hop artist 50 Cent has been cleared by NYPD of any allegation he was involved in the fire that blew up his Long Island home. In the "In Da Club" hitmaker's mansion, whilst ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins and their 11-year-old son Marquise was home, the fire caught on fire. The incident, which dates back to May 2008, closely coincided with the process of evicting Tompskins from the property, prompting suggestions he was behind the blaze. He denied the accusations and was recently cleared with the Police. A post on his website ThisIs50.com said: "The police department and insurance investigators ruled that there is absolutely no proof or evidence suggesting that Curtis Jackson or any affiliated parties were involved." Police further stated, "Curtis Jackson has just been cleared of all the accusations. The investigation will continue until the guilty party is found."

NOT to be put off by the Rihanna girl-bashing allegations, Chris Brown has stepped up once again, this time, insulting another lady; this time a Disney teenager, Miley Ray Cyrus. On National Australian Radio, Chris Brown stated Miley was "not attractive" despite she was fairly "cool" for the kids. Chris Brown has pleaded "not guilty" to assaulting Rihanna, only weeks after Jordin Sparks confirmed the couple were dating. Ex-gangster rapper 50 Cent also stated that beating Rihanna was "more than I could do" in a row of comments from stars that has sparked controversy. Editor's note: If Chris brown thinks Miley Cyrus is ugly... Maybe he should take a look at Rihanna. He doesn't have much to speak for himself!

PURITY-RING wearer Selena Gomez has scorned reports she's dating Twilight actor Taylor Lautner, insisting that she's sworn not to date other stars. The rumors were sparked last month when they were spotted laughing and playing around together in Vancouver, Canada. Gomez has also insisted her brief fling with Nick Jonas put her off dating other male stars. "I used to say that I wanted someone cute and nice, and an actor too. But now I think it would be good for me to date someone who's not in the business." Her best friend Demi Lovato also sports a purity ring, vowing now to have sex before marriage

MISS California USA 2009 Carrie Prejean, who has modelled for Saks Fifth Avenue, has been allowed to keep her Crown despite semi-nude photos of her were leaked on to the Internet. An evangelical Christian, she risked losing her crown after images of her wearing skimpy bottoms appeared on the Internet, despite she stated she had never posed nude or semi-nude. Trump said the photos did not violate her contract as Miss California. "We have determined that the pictures taken are fine," he said. "Some were very beautiful, some were risque, but, again, we're in the 21st century.... In many cases they were actually lovely pictures." In a tearful address live on MSNBC television, Prejean attacked the leak of the pictures dating to the start of her modelling career at 17, saying the release was victimization for her opposition to gay marriage. Prejean stated that there had been "hateful attacks, despicable rumours and false allegations" ever since she stated at the Miss USA contest that she only backed marriage between men and women. "I am not an activist or anything. Nor do I have a personal agenda. I was thrown into this firestorm from the time I was asked this question on stage," she said.
