Lots of new stuff over at blip.tv this week. The homepage has a new look and an "explore" page is now in place. A bunch of other stuff has been improved as well, like support for Adobe Media Player and Pando and the ability to reorder posts. And finally, the Learning Center is now open for business.

Speaking of MIT and open content, colour me impressed with the MIT TechTV site built on top of Blip.tv. I've been a fan of Blip.tv's service for some time (reliable performance even with large files, open source and open license friendly, much more reasonable terms of use than YouTube).

Communications seem so good (if deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahri's video dispatches are anything to go by) that we fully expect Al-Qaeda to launch it's own Blip.TV channel soon.

Over the past week as we had been putting videos up on this site and also sending them over to YouTube I was really disappointed with how YouTube was destroying the Video quality on the playback of the postings. I decided to give Blip.TV a try and for now on all Videos that I put up on this site will be through Blip.TV.

ast night Casey emailed us GETV kids alerting us to a website -- myheavy.com -- republishing Blip.tv video content without videobloggers' permission and plastering it with ads. When I went to the site and searched for my name I found a bunch of my videos as well -- plastered with Cingular ads, among other companies! Whoah! So. Not. Cool. Holy Creative Commons license violations, Batgirl! What makes someone think this is okay? The situation seems to be getting resolved thanks to Mike at Blip -- the content has been taken down. But it's hard to not feel like they should have given us all a cut of the ad money they made off our content. Grrr. They suck. Sleazy startups, being douchebags again.... *sigh*
