That DNC attracted Vietnam War protesters and civil rights activists. They were faced and attacked by Mayor Richard Daley's brutal police force. Since 1977, Camilo Jose Vergara has been photographing the erosion of urban landscapes in America. He has focused upon the gradual decay of urban neighborhoods, often photographing the same structures repeatedly over decades in order to capture this process.
