Having returned from holiday today I realise that Malcolm Gladwell is right. I read his book Blink. He writes about the power of immediate observation leading to correct conclusions far more often than we believe. We often wait for more information to back up our hunches before acting on them, when in fact we should trust ourselves more. For instance, if someone with back pain comes in to see me, I usually know what is causing it within a minute or two of them explaining what is wrong, without even examining them.
