This a must read article and the commet by Dave Winer is on the mark http://www.scripting.com/

My wife just finished reading Gotham Gal online http://gothamgal.blogs.com/ and is now reading a book on her Kindle

There are no newspapers in our house. Local Media in Detroit are full of murder, rape, and the Adventures of Pick Pocket Politicians! I follow bloggers I like on Tabbloid a free service from Hewlett Packard tabbloid_2009-02-08_0900-blue-blog I also give Twitter a glance at times can always find something to read

I am not sure any of the old media could ever pull off the a digital newsroom ! There are certain content creators like Chris Brogan Seth Godin Steve Rubel Dave Winer who could show them how, but will they understand ! I don’t think so ! Most of the Old Media could not find there way with Google Earth ! Attached is a copy of tabbloid Seth Godin talks about how to create a newspaper tabbloid_2009-01-10_0901-seth-2-now

I was born in 1936 and sadly can get more infrmation from Twitter than any of the local media in Michigan, unless you wnat information you might find in A publication in the United States by this name was officially The National Police Gazette, although commonly referred to as simply the Police Gazette. It was founded in 1845 by George Wilkes, a journalist and sometime transcontinental railroad booster.[1] The editor for most of the 19th century was Richard K. Fox, an immigrant from Ireland. Ostensibly devoted to matters of interest to the police, it was more often a tabloid-like publication, with lurid coverage of murders, Wild West outlaws, and sport. It was well known for its engravings and photographs of scantily clad strippers, burlesque dancers, and prostitutes, often skirting on the edge of what was legally considered obscenity. The National Police Gazette enjoyed considerable popularity in the late 19th century and early decades of the 20th century; but its popularity decreased during the Great Depression. [1] It continued publishing until 1982. [2]
Musician Dan Hicks has claimed that he derived inspiration for some of his witty, satiric lyrics by stories he had read in The Police Gazette.
The website, www.policegazette.us[3], mimics the Police Gazette style in coverage of current events and contains some archival materials from the original publication that give a taste of its late 19th century flavor.

Do it wrong long enough we may learn- Food for Thought !

You follow too many people on Twitter.
You don’t allow blog comments.
You add people to LinkedIn that you don’t know very well.
You have ads on your blog.
You use partial RSS feeds.
Your blog posts are too short (too long).
You shoot really long videos and don’t edit.
You don’t follow people back.

Finally some one has discussed Twitter as more than a toy ! I don’t read newspapers any more and only watch a few things on Pb-Yes ! I do download Ritmo Latino from NRP so if I get a tweet that interest’s me ! It is of value-I am not a teche but have gotten some info from a few on Twitter and It was of great value when I had trouble with my internet service and contacted Frank Eliason of Comcast Cares-

http://www.eliasonfamily.info/blog/?p=234

This past week BusinessWeek.com posted a story called Comcast’s Twitter Man. Of course I am one of a number of people on Twitter from Comcast. These positive stories have come about because of the great team I have and their efforts to improve the Customer experience. I am still shocked by it all. Whenever a story comes out like this it always brings about questions: usually scalability and existing Customer experience through other channels such as phone and chat. This post will answer the question on scalability. I am saving the discussion on improving the experience through all channels for the future Comcast corporate blog. That is a topic that is more relevant for that space instead of this one. But since I am a believer that social media engagement will be important in the coming years, I thought scalability is a great discussion for here.

Seth Godin noted this on his platform http://sethgodin.typepad.com/

Don’t get sued

“If you write online, on a blog, on Twitter, on Squidoo, even in the comments section of a site, you are a published author.

Congratulations.

Before you write something negative about another person, you need to realize that the casual nature of your post doesn’t protect you from a lawsuit. Charles Glasser is an expert on this and a new edition of his book just came out. You should consider reading it, or be sure to hire an editor who did. It’s more sophisticated than a quick overview, but you know you’re getting the straight scoop.” Seth Godin

Avoiding libel as a blogger.

I think if bloggers start to get paid for their content this will become an Issue.-A big one!

In 2008, Two Contrarians Showed Blogging is Alive and Well - Authenticities - Edelman Digital

I like the fact that Steve Rubel supports using stats.

“Earlier this year Wired magazine created a stir when it declared that starting a blog today for thought leadership or money is fruitless. “The time it takes to craft sharp, witty blog prose is better spent expressing yourself on Flickr, Facebook, or Twitter,” Paul Boutin wrote.

There’s validity to the argument. For example, there’s no way I would start a gadget blog given the competition. Not only do you have Engadget, Gizmodo and Crunchgear, but now the media’s getting into the game as well. The New York Times recently launched Gadgetwise.

Wired’s thesis is certainly the conventional wisdom today. Twitter, Friendfeed and Facebook all posted massive growth this year. Blogging, meanwhile, declined by some measures. Daily postings receded from 1.5 million per day last year to 900,000 in 2008, according to Technorati.

Conventional wisdom, however, is where you find contrarians thriving. And in 2008 two stood out - Jeremiah Owyang and Chris Brogan. As you can see from the Google Trends traffic chart (also below), which includes Micro Persuasion (my blog), they’re eating my lunch! ” Steve Rubel 22 dec 2008

EVERY AMERICAN SHOULD READ THIS BOOK.

Really, everyone, period, should read this book, but most especially, all fearful, reactionary, protectionist sorts that America is rich with today. Posted by Andrew Badera at 8:29 AM 0 Comments
