Making Something From Nothing

This may be on of the best post’s of the new year ! From Mr Fred Wilson

“That’s a fundamental difference and we cannot ever lose sight of this fact. Nothing costs nothing. We don’t have to pay for our ideas, imagination, and hard work we put into turning nothing into something. Well to be exact, the entrepreneur doesn’t have to pay for any of those things. The VC does pay for those things and gets a piece of the ride from nothing to something as a result.!” January 1, 2009 Fred Wilson

Add to it this look up article from Dave Winer on helping friend feed http://www.scripting.com/

In one of my reblogs I added some thoughts regarding giving free help to Friendfeed Mr Wilson says it better nothing cost’s nothing ! Me below !

“Or better yet have the Executives at Friend Feed follow the folks at Adaptive Blue these people have developed an application for all of us and they will succeed. http://www.adaptiveblue.com/!” Msandler

AdaptiveBlue Launches Glue to Show You Who’s Visiting What on the Web
October 28, 2008 - 9:00 am PDT - by Adam Ostrow 10 Comments
Semantic Web startup AdaptiveBlue is launching a new service today called Glue. The concept is sort of similar to MyBlogLog – showing recent visitors to a certain webpage – except it’s more like recent visitors to a given concept. So, for example, if you’re looking at the Wikipedia entry for the movie Iron Man, the Glue bar will show people that have visited webpages about Iron Man all around the Net, for example, on Netflix or IMDB.
This all works through a combination of a Firefox add-on (Get Glue), AdaptiveBlue’s contextual technology, and analyzing your existing social networks on services like Facebook, Twitter, and Friendfeed. In turn, if you’re visiting the Iron Man page on Wikipedia, you’ll see which of your friends from those sites (who have also installed Glue) have explored Iron Man content, with options to see additional metadata like comments, reviews, or “likes.” Additionally, Glue wants to help you discover new people, so you’ll see other members of Glue who are interested in the concept you’re viewing. This screencast explains how it all works a bit more in-depth:

Not being a Geek I was very excited a few months ago being invited to test Glue ! I at 72 years old and not a fan of Machine Communication , find found that somewhere in the computer science education platform Geekery has taught students to talk to machines not people ! My LG is full blown I don’t text get email etc, As and old man I like the touch keyboard so i bought an LG Vu Mobile Phone ! I find Twitter and Friendfeed boring applications !

I get my reads from Frank Eliason Chris Brogan Louis Gray Steve Rubel Shel Israel Bill Israel Dave Winer and more I pull them into my mail box with Tabbloid a Free Service from Hewlett Packard tabbloid_2008-12-24_0900-2

If you have a Tumblr theme it makes it easy it easy to post to Tumblr with Glue I added one today on The Great Thanksgiving podcast by Bill Isreal of Cubicle 17 and Chris Brogan http://msandler.tumblr.com/

Back in March Alex discussed how easy it was to post things to Tumblr with BlueOrganizer. Things like “books, music, movies, restaurants, people, stocks, recipes, wine and even stories - all with just one click.”
