http://doc.cat-v.org/bell_labs/structural_regexps/

The current UNIX® text processing tools are weakened by the built-in concept of a line. There is a simple notation that can describe the `shape' of files when the typical array-of-lines picture is inadequate. That notation is regular expressions. Using regular expressions to describe the structure in addition to the contents of files has interesting applications, and yields elegant methods for dealing with some problems the current tools handle clumsily. When operations using these expressions are composed, the result is reminiscent of shell pipelines

http://web.media.mit.edu/~minsky/papers/MusicMindMeaning.html

Why do we like music? Our culture immerses us in it for hours each day, and everyone knows how it touches our emotions, but few think of how music touches other kinds of thought. It is astonishing how little curiosity we have about so pervasive an "environmental" influence. What might we discover if we were to study musical thinking?

http://atlasobscura.com/

The Atlas Obscura is a collaborative project with the goal of cataloging all of the singular, eccentric, bizarre, fantastical, and strange out-of-the-way places that get left out of traditional travel guidebooks and are ignored by the average tourist. If you're looking for miniature cities, glass flowers, books bound in human skin, gigantic flaming holes in the ground, phallological museums, bone churches, balancing pagodas, or homes built entirely out of paper, the Atlas Obscura is where you'll find them.

In a new version of the Unix operating system, a flexible coroutine-based design replaces the traditional rigid connection between processes and terminals or networks. Processing modules may be inserted dynamically into the stream that connects a user's program to a device. Programs may also connect directly to programs, providing inter-process communication.

http://www.cs.wustl.edu/~taoju/code/polymender.htm

PolyMender is based on the algorithm presented in my paper Robust Repair of Polygonal Models appeared in the Proceedings of SIGGRAPH 2004. The program reads in a polygonal model (i.e., a bag of polygons, such as figure 1 left) and produces a closed surface (such as figure 1 right) that approximates the original model. PolyMender consumes a small amount of time and memory space, and can accurately reproduce the sharp features in the original geometry. PolyMender is suitable for repairing CAD models and gigantic polygonal models. Alternatively, PolyMender can also be used to generate a signed volume from any polygonal models.

This is the Forensics Wiki, a Creative Commons-licensed wiki devoted to information about digital forensics (also known as computer forensics). We currently list a total of 490 pages.

Much of computer forensics is focused on the tools and techniques used by investigators, but there are also a number of important papers, people, and organizations involved. Many of those organizations sponsor conferences throughout the year and around the world. You may also wish to examine the popular journals and some special reports.

Computer Animation with Scripts and Actors

http://www.red3d.com/cwr/papers/1982/ASAS82.html

A technique and philosophy for controlling computer animation is discussed. Using the Actor/Scriptor Animation System (ASAS) a sequence is described by the animator as a formal written SCRIPT, which is in fact a program in an animation/graphic language. Getting the desired animation is then equivalent to "debugging" the script. Typical images manipulated with ASAS are synthetic, 3D perspective, color, shaded images. However, the animation control techniques are independent of the underlying software and hardware of the display system, so apply to other types (still, B&W, 2D, line drawing ...)

http://blog.thejit.org/javascript-information-visualization-toolkit-jit/

The JIT is an advanced JavaScript infovis toolkit based on 5 papers about different information visualization techniques.
The JIT implements advanced features of information visualization like Treemaps (with the slice and dice and squarified methods), an adapted visualization of trees based on the Spacetree, a focus+context technique to plot Hyperbolic Trees, and a radial layout of trees with advanced animations (RGraph).
