Lord of the Flies is a 1963 film adaptation of William Golding's novel of the same name. It was directed by the renowned theatre director Peter Brook and produced by Lewis A. Allen, known for producing films based on modern classic novels. The film was in production for much of 1961 though the film was not released until 1963. This film takes place in Greece and revolves around a brother and sister; Jeffrey and Sarah. At the beginning of the movie Sarah has become engaged to be married to a guy named Nikos. Her brother, who is somewhat of a playboy, has become involved with the mob by taking out a loan. The only problem is that Jeffrey is possibly about to be disinherited when his father makes out a new will and if that happens he won’t have the money to pay back the mobster, Angelo.
